2-6-2007 Chennai and more

Last weekend saw me in Chennai, as blistering as ever! It continues to be one of those places which helps me connect with my spiritual self, temples at every corner leading to names of streets being referred to as XYZ koil street, koil being temple…and with the temples is the neverending sea which gives me a sense of calm and detachment…

The Chennai branch of Mindtree is much smaller, however, the infrastructure is simply amazing... n what impressed me most were the people, by people, I mean the interview panel which comprised of men n women high on energy n passionate about their work, …everything abt this short trip was well planned, the food simply rocked[ typical south Indian cuisine], opportunity to meet my uncle n aunt who are waiting to talk to nybody who could converse in Kannada, our mother tongue, n watching a very real, pleasant, movie, unnale unnale and finally the hospitality of jet airways whn thy accommodated us on available flights whn the destined flight couldn't be scheduled due to the weather.

I learnt many things on this trip, especially to notice the minor but significant change in the quality of candidates.I may sound biased, however, the quality of CVs at Chennai were much better… in terms of volumes, Bangalore is still way ahead, but, real conversions and offers are much lower. I learnt a trick or two about event management too, cause I had to act as the financer for the team and distributing a decent sum as against an expense account ws in itself a learning. Whenever I am given such responsibilities, I look back at that 'child' that I was only a few months ago [child is wot my brother calls me to annoy me] I couldn't handle my pocket money properly, and, now I carry cash to take care of a team of 30 people.

When I returned, I felt like the energy followed me, I am doing some interesting things, only when they are finished or are part of the deliverables will I talk abt them, but this allows me to interact with the media folks, creative designers, marketing and communication division etc, who widen my perspective…every other day I am getting appreciation for the wrk tat I do, my boss Sanjay even called me Supergirl
J..at times, it scares me, frm day one I feel that there is a building expectation, will I be able to deliver? Am I doin enough, can I do some more?

Apart frm these occupational hazards J I must add that there was a mango festival held at "rangashankara" wch my mother attended 2 weeks ago, celebrating fruits n specifically the king of fruits is indeed a yummy idea, I think rangashankara is the ultimate tribute to not just Shankar nag but to everything related to our art n culture, n food n fruits ;) r an integral part of it…some of u hav been fortunate to eat the mangoes grwn in our orchard in Tiptur, the rest are welcome every season, infact I am planning to write a compilation of stories of my childhood experiences, marsh my dear editor approves…watch this space for all those masti n mischevious stories of ur friend wch u maynt hav hrd frm her yet!!!

2moro cs me wrking on yet another Sunday, hmmm..more learning :)

celebrate life today n always!!!
