Salaam-e-ishq (1/5/2007)

Salaame ishq disappointed my expectations, though I thoroughly enjoyed ' Love actually'. Hugh Grant looks as delectable as ever in ' Music and lyrics'…well! Y am I talking abt these movies nw, whn most of my mails r usually in real time ;)

Movies make love stories of a specific kind seem like a breeze, thy always hav happy endings :)… I want to share with u few stories of real people in luv, as the subject fascinates me. These are stories I heard at a recent engagement of one of my colleagues n I am happy to share it with all of u : )

Story no 1: this is my team mate, born to a v popular singer in the Kannada film industry, this only daughter found love in a budding TV actor and got married to him, against her parents wishes. Her parents made statements against her in the media, her husband had to face the wrath of local goons and they had to spend almost two years under the charity of her friends. She completed her MBA, got into McAffee, Infosys and now is an integral part of MindTree and her husband nw features in popular serials and does music shows all across the globe…she lives a life which is not as luxurious as compared to her upbringing, but she has no regrets, her down to earth demeanour, and her commitment to work and life itself inspires me!!!

Story No 2: If u speak to him, u wud rate him as a natural salesman, however, he is in the business of people, my boss n mentor, from Madhya Pradesh, went to Mumbai to pursue n MBA, but, instead found the luv of his life wch changed the course of his lifeJ he didn't finish his MBA but instead married the woman whose father was politically connected and shiv sainiks chased him outta Maharashtra…theres a smile sealed on his lips… even if he has to catch a flight, in the nth hr,he wud close an offer n leave, theres no problem tat doesn't have a solution for this cheerful effervescent person.

Story no 3: he speaks Tamil and she Kannada, their families are poles apart, but, their daughter of 3 yrs brought them all 2gether, as she manages to mix both Tamil and kannada together, thy are people who speak to me of potential career options lik tat of a location consultant, technical writer etc…they are people who blive in the future but r grounded to their customs n thy r committed to a world of happiness…

Story no 4: heres a gal who is in lov with a man, she hasn't confessed her feelings to…she doesn't talk to him everyday, nor does she sms or use ny of the modern tools…she keeps track of every progress / hindrance in her man's life… every waking morn she dreams of him, prays for him and even fasts fr him [ abstinence frm food by her is a grt sacrifice as she is a woman who luvs food] ..but, the world around her is not blind to her luv, her classmates voted her n the guy as one of the possible couples to walk down the aisle in one of the surveys done in college…but, shudnt this luv story wch hinges on hope n happiness also end in a story like the previous 3, I pray tat the 2 com together :)

Hmmm…nw som bit on my life in the past week, I am learning the sign language, like the morse code wch I learnt as a guide, I want to understand my ability to communicate through expressions… At office, I am finding people who will add on to u all, as people who are shaping me, the advantage of being in a growing co is the freedom one gets to experiment and explore. I am closely working with the IS team, and the SAP team... learning some on project management.

I attended a session by Subroto n his words made a lot of sense… he was talking abt oratory n somhw felt tat its not oratory tat is relevant 2day, but communication.he didn't not giv fancy anecdotes, but gave a few pointers on hw to communicate. He said he wanted to b rememberd as a thinker n not as a speaker [well! Don't v all wish 2 b remeberd somday] I liked wot he said, n wished tat somday, I will hav the wisdom to b as humble as him, he said one line wchs been at the bck of mind ' don't overemphasise reverence' if v hav to bcom a nation of the future it is definitely reqrd to push ourselves more than a 100% n stop waitin to b told to do things, our emphasis on positions, levels, status, heirarchys stifles many an idea even b4 its born!

Speaking of which, I should tell u abt this second cousin of mine called 'gundu' whose name is kushal. Hes studying in the 4th standard, n he luvs tinkering his cycle. He wanted his cycle to have a silencer just like in the bikes, he went to a local mechanic found an iron pipe and asked the mechanic to soulder the pipe to the body of his cycle. Every evening he puts some 'samrani' don't knw the English translation, it's a kinda ash which whn burnt will smell nice n red embers sparkle… this kid rides his bike with the ash burning in his self made silencer, n is happy to see people around him look at his bike with amusement…ideas r born everyday, n no matter hw small thy r… let us n our children make thm a reality!!!

The weekend saw me catching up with mars, we worked on the yearbook, n it awaits a release on our graduation day, 5th of may is whn I will receive my degree:)... I miss the wifi in college, as at work, ill hav quite som time to write but no access to personal mail n ppl am hooked on to the television series 'prison break' i watch it whenever i am free, the series is one of the cleverest i have seen in my life, n the best bit abt the series is its whole purpose is to save a brother, the human aspect of it sometimes brings tears in my eyes…n am following the cocktail kings as mch as possible, thy dished out an ossom apple n pear cocktail, wish i cud try making it, somtimes, i visualise recipes, food n drink in my mind, it keeps me occupied everytime theres a traffic block...traffic signals definitely hav their own story to tell, the movie too was ossom, n guys do watch blades of glory, it simply rocks!!

Take care n let the spirit of luv, hope, happiness n ideas engulf u :-)
